“I Remember” Original Painting

“I Remember” is a reflection on the ordinary moments of childhood that become priceless once you grow up.

Inspired by my childhood in the 2000s, the painting captures a late night ride home after going out to dinner. Me, my two younger siblings, and our single mother together in the car. At the time, it was simply another night out. Looking back, it represents something much bigger.

Our mother was raising three children on her own, carrying responsibilities we were too young to understand while still finding ways to give us experiences that would become some of our warmest memories.

The exaggerated figures, vibrant colors, and playful patterns recreate the way childhood memories actually feel. Not perfectly clear, but colorful, emotional, and full of life.

“I Remember” is about growing old enough to recognize the love that was present in moments you once considered ordinary.

The food is gone. The night ended. We grew up.

But I remember.
